Invisible Tension

Photography | Sony A7S III

"Invisible Tension" explores the hidden desires and suppressed emotions beneath the surface of human existence. What we outwardly perceive is often misleading—our true feelings and urges lie concealed beneath an invisible veil, buried deep in our hearts or subconscious minds. This series will capture moments of potential action, where human subjects interact with objects in a way that suggests an imminent, inevitable movement, just beyond the frame of the captured image.

Using a Sony Alpha 7S III digital camera, I will compose images featuring fragmented human forms and still objects. The subjects will manipulate or engage with the objects to generate a palpable sense of tension—implying a restrained or impending action. These compositions aim to evoke anticipation, leaving viewers in suspense, as if the subject is on the brink of breaking free from their constraints.

This project is deeply personal. As someone who experiences "smiling depression," I often conceal my emotions behind a composed exterior while feeling an intense, private urge for uninhibited expression. Through this series, I seek to translate this internal conflict into visual form, capturing the struggle between restraint and desire, stillness and motion.
