Exploring Photomontage through Medium Format Film and Digital Composition
This project explores tranquility by blending nature and human presence through a Mamiya medium format camera. Inspired by Jerry Uelsmann’s photomontage techniques, it creates surreal yet serene compositions where human figures seamlessly merge with natural landscapes, evoking harmony and stillness.
Using single exposures and overlapping developed photos in Photoshop, the project integrates organic textures and human forms to create a dreamlike calm. Light and shadow interplay enhances the ethereal quality, making subjects appear as if merging with the earth.
Rooted in unity, inner peace, and timelessness, the project depicts people blending into nature—bodies dissolving into roots, faces merging with water, and limbs entwined with the earth. This immersion symbolizes surrender to nature’s tranquility, blurring boundaries between human and environment.
The final series will be presented in print and digital formats, inviting viewers to reflect on their connection with nature. "A Pathway to Tranquility" encourages introspection and artistic exploration of stillness, where humanity and nature exist in harmony.
